On Saturday April 6th, 2019, automated mobility was the topic of a citizen’s dialogue in five Austrian cities. Almost 170 people attended the events in Vienna, Linz, Graz, Pörtschach and Salzburg to discuss the potential of this new technology.
Automated mobility is an exciting but sometimes frightening topic. The potential and possibilities are not always clear. This was one reason, why Austria wanted to be part of this global initiative. The debate, held in Vienna, Graz, Linz, Pörtschach and Salzburg showed that there is a significant need for information and discussion. There was plenty of scope to exchange ideas and views in an open atmosphere, and to learn about automated mobility in six different rounds of discussion. The organizers were impressed how quickly the participants got to grips with each topic and how actively and enthusiastically they took part in the discussion. “By contributing to this dialogue, the citizens have shared the perspectives that are the most important to them. They described their vision of the future. This now needs to be taken into account in further activities and measures,” said Russ, Managing Director at AustriaTech. We are looking forward to the results of the other cities participating across Europe, and in North America and Singapure!
